Where to drive from Malaga
There is so much to see in the Malaga area that it is difficult to list everything in a small space. Malaga is the airport that you fly into for the holiday area known as the Costa del Sol or Andalucia.
To the east of Malaga is the lovely town of Nerja. This is a typical Andalucian village with its whitewashed houses and beautiful views out to sea. Nerja is especially known for its 3000 years old caves which make a great tourist attraction.
Mijas is another typical Spanish village to visit. It is located in the mountains West of Malaga in the direction of Torremolinos. As well as hiring a car why not try a ride on a donkey taxi !
To the west of Malaga, along the coast, you can find towns such as Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola which all are known for their beaches and lively holidays.
The Costa del Sol is also very popular for golf holidays as it has some of the most popular golf courses in Spain. Located between the towns of Marbella and Estapona, Marbella is also known as the Monaco of Spain with exclusive holiday resorts, a marina with luxurious yachts, expensive restaurants and designer shops.
Also popular for a day trip by car are the historical cities of Granada and Seville, both culturally astounding and the drive to these two cities takes you through some amazing mountain scenery.
The province of Cadiz, further west from Malaga, is perfect for people interested in wind surfing, particularly at the town of Tarifa. From Cadiz and the rest of the Costa del Sol it is also possible to visit the rock of Gibraltar.
