Where to drive in Tenerife
Tenerife is a great place to hire a car. Firstly you have the flexibility of having a car to use whenever you want to visit the shops or go to the beach, and secondly you can use your hire car to explore the island of Tenerife. Away from the beaches, Tenerife has stunning countryside, with mountainous rain forests, deserts, spectacular coastal scenery and quaint rural villages.

Despite its great beauty, the panoramic Anaga Mountain region is still relatively unexplored and has many rural villages. The Parque Nacional de las Cañadas del Teide includes an enormous volcanic crater 48kms in circumference, out of which rises Mount Teide (Spain's highest peak).
The Cliffs of the Giants at Los Gigantes are remarkable sheer rock walls that plunge into the sea, located down the west coast of Tenerife.
The ethnographic park, 'Pirámides de Güímar' contains the rare stone pyramids whose disputed origins bear resemblance to similar ones found in Peru.
Los Cristianos in Tenerife was once a fishing village, and is one of the most popular resorts on the Canary Islands. The best beaches include, Playa de Las Teresitas, Playa San Marcos, and the well developed, glitzy, Playa de Las Americas. Lago Martianez is a good freshwater alternative.
