Alberta, Canada
Banff and Jasper National Parks are the best known and most visited
parks in Canada, the overwhelming scenery includes the spectacular
peaks of the Rocky Mountains, hanging glaciers, lakes and rushing
rivers and also an amazing range of plants and wildlife. Near Edmonton
the unusually named Head-Smashed-In Buffalo is a huge bison jump
site last used in the late 19th Century by Blackfoot who stampeded
the herds over the cliffs to their deaths, it is now a World Heritage
sight.
Apart from all the amazing outdoor activities they'll love, how
about taking them on the Dinosaur Trail in the Badlands stopping
off at the Royal Tyrell Museum of Palaeontology. With the largest
Planetarium in Canada and an Imax cinema the Edmonton Space & Science
Centre is bound to be a hit.
With some of the best hiking, climbing and skiing in the world
in some of the worlds most spectacular and beautiful landscapes
its easy to understand why this area is an outdoor adventurer's
paradise. Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, horse riding and whitewater
rafting are also easily accessible.
Look out for fruit stalls which sell delicious local seasonal fruit
such as strawberries and Blueberries. Fresh water fish dishes and
of course anything served with maple syrup. Molson and Labatts beer
are world famous brews and Canadian wine is now getting some good
press.

Where to dance the night away
|
Entertainment in all Canada's major cities is first class with
great theatre, live music and comedy venues so it's easy to have
a great night out every day of your holiday. Outside the major cities
nightlife is generally more low key but you may find some good country
music to let your hair down to and of course get to know the very
friendly locals.
The Calgary Stampede in July is a wild 10-day festival of revelry
dating back to 1912, with all kinds of entertainment from rodeos
to exhibitions - with over 10,000 visitors you can guarantee a good
time is had by all. Also in Calgary the International Native Arts
Festival has displays of traditional singing, dancing, arts and
crafts by indigenous peoples from all over the world.
Impressive photographs or if your not sure you'll do the sights
justice why not buy some prints or slides. Although perhaps not
the cheapest, outdoor clothing and equipment is great quality.
