What to see
Its amazing variety of natural wonders; Wave Rock near Hyden; tidal
waterfalls near Talbot Bay: the awesome Pinnacles Desert: to name
but a few. Its also worth spending some time in the lively capital
Perth and the historic port city of Fremantle.
What to do with the kids
At Monkey Mia children can have wonderful and memorable encounters
with pelicans and dolphins. Let them say up late to watch turtles
lay eggs in the sand at night or take them on a boat trip following
humpback whales.
Working up an appetite
People travel from all over the world to surf here with its miles
of deserted beaches and huge powerful waves. You'll find a huge
range of watersports but on land you can go bushwalking, climbing
or even trek the desert on a camel.
What to eat & drink
Only found in Western Australia the Marron is a freshwater crayfish,
which you shouldn't miss trying pan-fried in lemon, dill and garlic.
The area also produces some fine wines and great beers.
Where to dance the night away
No shortage of discos and nightclubs in the cities and main towns
from very classy up-market places to huge barns filled to bursting
with people out to dance till dawn or until the beer runs out whichever
happens first.
Annual High points
The Festival of Perth takes place from mid-February to mid-March
with local national and international arts.

Aboriginal Art is becoming is becoming very popular allover the
world and makes a great gift or reminder of your trip.
What to see
With its wonderful beaches, and miles of outback to explore Queensland
has something for everyone. Take a cruise around the Whitsunday's
or one on the beautiful islands on the Great Barrier Reef then head
for the fascinating rainforests of the north.
What to do with the kids
Queensland is home to Sea World, Dreamworld, Movieworld and a host
of other amusements and attractions for kids all close to the great
beaches along its miles of coastline.
Working up an appetite
Diving or snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef is a must, or bushwalking
on wonderful Fraser Island. If your looking for the perfect wave
head for Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.
What to eat & drink
Moreton Bay Bugs don't sound very appetising but they are a wonderful
local crustacean, Australia's most well known spirit is Bundaberg
Rum made from local raw molasses.
Where to dance the night away
As the sun goes down over the Gold Coast the neon lights go on,
this area is full of bars and clubs and other forms of evening entertainment.
Annual High points
In August to celebrate the return of the whales, Hervey Bay holds
a14 day Whale Festival.
What to bring back
Australia has some great surf and beachwear in fashionable styles
and colours, which will brighten up your summer wardrobe.
