Benidorm
Benidorm is a town for everyone. It has been slagged off more than
any other foreign resort, mostly by people who have never been.
Those that have been, go back time and time again. It is one of
the most popular holiday destinations for millions of Brits.
Benidorm shelters beneath the surrounding mountains, offering mild
winters, delightful springs, hot summers and wonderful autumns.
Its not all concrete and lager louts. The city has undergone a
£340M face lift in recent years and hundreds of trees have been
planted. Many of the discos have been moved out of town and families
are welcomed. You can then relax on pristine beaches , kept spotless
by an army of 60 cleaners every day.
Europe's largest water park, Aqualandia, and the newly opened £7M
Seaworld offer visitors plenty to do. There are a wide range of
excursions including stunning mountain scenery. Try Fuentes del
Algar or Castell de Guadalest.
There are over 32,000 hotel rooms that cater for tourists all year
round and Benidorm has a sizeable number of winter long stay guests.
There are plenty of cafes serving English breakfasts, but there
are just as many tapas bars serving the more traditional local food.
Alicante is known for its shoes. Lladro porcelain is made near
Valencia. Local crafts include the making of rugs, ponchos and baskets.
