Cyprus
Caribbean style beaches, crystal clear waters, stunning mountain
scenery and friendly people. These are just a few phrases that could
best describe this beautiful island in the eastern Mediterranean.
Cyprus estimates that it enjoys 340 days of sunshine a year, although
the period between December and February can be very unpredictable
and, on occasions, cold.
A lot of pleasure from being on the island comes from its laid
back atmosphere. The real treats are simple things such as going
up into the mountains in an open top jeep or walking through a wood
with no one else around.
But Cyprus has something for everyone. If its night life you're
after try the bustling club scene in Ayia Napa or the lively town
of Limassol. If its a quieter resort you want why not try Protaras
for a family holiday. Whatever resort you choose you can be assured
of quality accommodation and a warm welcome.
Paphos
Paphos has retained its Cypriot identity despite modern day development.
Focal point is the charming fishing harbour, around which the streets
are lined with open air cafes and tavernas. As befits the former
Roman capital, Paphos boasts an outstanding cultural legacy, including
superb second and third century mosaics. Possibly the most famous
landmark lies on the road to Limassol, the birthplace of Aphrodite,
Greek goddess of love !
Limassol
Lively and cosmopolitan it has a thriving night life, fine seafront
restaurants and snack bars by the score. This is the largest resort,
spreading along eight miles of coastline, from the old harbour past
the ancient ruins of Amathous to the east. Easily accessible from
Limassol lie the beautiful Troodos mountains.
Ayia Napa/Protaras
The emphasis at Ayia Napa is enjoyment - the town teems with life
at night with countless restaurants, bars and nightclubs doing a
roaring trade. Just a few miles away Protaras is more restrained
and is much more suited to family holidays. Both resorts have excellent
beaches, the most famous being Fig Tree Bay.
