Mauritius
This perfectly formed island gem lies in the middle of the Indian Ocean, 1200 miles off the east coast of Africa, its nearest neighbouring continent.
Soft, white sand beaches; shimmering azure water; rolling fields of sugar cane; endless coral reefs - this must surely be heaven. Its' cosmopolitan blend of African, Indian, French and Creole cultures creates the background for the perfect tropical island.
Where the island really excels is in its accommodation. It has several of the world's most luxurious hotels, ideal for a pampered unstressful holiday and just right for honeymoons.
Hotels also cater well for families and the more active, with impressive children's clubs and an extensive range of free water sports and boat trips.
The only disadvantage, apart from the high prices, is that hotels tend to be isolated. So, Mauritius is not the best choice of destination if you like to spend your time out and about.
Mauritian cuisine is a taste sensation which you must experience to believe - the exotic blend of spices from Asia, together with classic French masterpieces and a dash of Creole flair will delight
you.
