Wildlife Safari in Madagascar
With almost 90% of its animals found no where else in the world
this island is a nature lover's paradise. From the limestone pinnacles
of the Ankarana Reserve, the coastal rainforest of the Masoala Peninsula
to the waterfalls of the Ranomafana National Park the islands dramatic
scenery is a pleasure to explore.
Walking is definitely the best way to really see the island and
its wildlife and because there are no large mammals or venomous
snakes and very few dangerous creepy crawlies is very safe. Walking
at night can be particularly interesting with the chance to see
the nocturnal animals when they wake up.
Lemurs, Mongoose, unusual birds, reptiles and invertebrates give
the island an amazing variety of unusual flora and fauna to discover.
Once described as "Noah's Ark adrift in the Indian Ocean" the island
is visited a great deal by both scientists and nature lovers from
all over the world.
The national dish is romazava a meat and vegetable stew, spiced
with ginger and brede the local tasty greens. Three Horses Beer
is the most popular drink and goes down very well after a day's
exploration of the island.
