Toronto Canada
For a great view of the city, take the lift to the top of the space
deck of the CN Tower - 446m above the ground, on a clear day you
can even see the mist of Niagara Falls. The city itself has great
art galleries and museums such as The Art Gallery of Ontario. A
twenty-minute ferry ride from the city will take you to Toronto
Islands where you can explore the 14 islands on foot, by boat or
by bike.
The Ontario Palace is a huge waterfront complex, which includes
a Cinesphere, a floating museum, and outdoor amphitheatre and Children's
village. Also a must for kids is the Ontario Science Centre with
hundreds of interactive exhibits and they'll love the thrills at
Canada's Wonderland with over 40 rides and a huge water park.
Summer is a great time to go sailing on Lake Ontario or hire a
bike and cycle the Martin Goodman Trail that runs 12 miles along
the waterfront. With over 30 artificial and over 100 natural ice
rinks all free - ice-skating is a popular family activity along
with other winter outdoor pursuits such as skiing and tobogganing.
With its ethnically diverse population this city has a fantastic
range of traditional Chinese, Thai, Indian and Italian restaurants.
New restaurants are springing up all the time, producing very inventive
cuisine using the best local ingredients. Locally brewed beers such
as Labatts and Molson are obvious choices and very popular but you
might want to look out for the local cider or apple juice, which
is delicious.
