Bangkok - Holiday guide
Chaos is a justified word when describing Thailand's capital seeing that it is home to nearly a 10th of the countries inhabitants (approx 7 million). This overcrowding can cause severe problems with transportation in and out of the city, however recently an overhead railway has been built to relieve some of the problems.
Bangkok is a very metropolitan city with lots of shopping malls. However, taking a boat trip down to the Damnoen Saduak Floating market is a great way of experiencing the traditional style of Thailand at the same time as getting in a bit of shopping.
The Royal Grand Palace, situated on the Chao Phraya River, is a magical palace which dates back to 1785. The palace holds the famous Emerald Buddha, one of the most prized possessions of the kingdom, which was sculpted from one piece of Jade.
Bangkok is a very modern city filled with trendy wine bars and dance clubs. Other night time activities include dinner cruises down the Chao Praya or enjoying traditional Thai dancing at the Patravadi Theatre.
