Chiang Mai - Holiday guide
To the north of Thailand lies Chiang Mai, a breathtaking city filled with exquisite ancient temples and surrounded by some dramatic views of the mountains and surrounding jungle. Excursions out of the city are widely suggested like trekking the Doi Suthep Mountain, elephant rides around the outskirts of the city and bamboo rafting on the river. There are also some wonderful waterfalls in the area.
The city itself is very popular with tourists and it can be, in peak times, very difficult to book a hotel room. A large night time market is a great place to try and find some bargains and bartering is suggested, if you're strong willed enough!
