Model Naomi Campbell has become embroiled in an allegation of assault at a five-star hotel in Rome this week.

Campbell is understood to have attacked her actress friend Yvonne Scio, after the pair had an argument.

The incident took place at the Eden Hotel, situated near the Italian capital's famous celebrity haunt Via Veneto.

A police spokesman, Domenico Condello, said: "I can confirm that an allegation of assault against Naomi Campbell has been made by Yvonne Scio.

"She came to the police station and she had cuts to her lip and had been treated in hospital. She said that Naomi had insulted her and attacked her after an argument over some clothes she was wearing."

The scene of the alleged incident is one of Rome's oldest and most exclusive hotels, situated near the fabulous Spanish Steps, and boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Rome is one of Europe's most romantic cities, and is an ideal destination for a summer city break, offering fine weather, excellent restaurants and a wealth of sightseeing opportunities.
