Ahoy me hearties! Britons looking to Florida for their summer holidays should steer away from the crowds of the state's many theme parks and take to the water - pirate style!
As the third of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies At World's End is released this week, Florida offers wannabe Jack Sparrows the chance to follow the path of their hero to discover the ocean's deepest secrets.
Visitors to Panama City Beach, renowned amongst scuba-diving enthusiasts, can sail the seven seas on an 85-foot sailing ship as part of the two-hour Sea Dragon Sailing Tour.
For landlubbers searching for pirate treasure on dry land, the Hidden Treasures of north Florida Geocaching Treasure Trail offers families, particularly those on a fly-drive break, the chance to follow an interactive trail taking in some of the state's hidden attractions.
At the Tallahassee Museum children and adults can marvel at alligators and bears in the at the attraction's park and zoo.
Tourists with a taste for the ghostly creatures should head to the haunted houses of the town of Monticello, while the Ghosts of the Mantanzas Sailing Tour offers tourists the chance to experience a ghoulish marine adventure in the company of a pirate captain!
Meanwhile Disney World in Orlando is also offering tourists to get in on the chance to become totally immersed in all-things pirate, with in-resort money (or should that be pieces of eight?) featuring skull and
crossbones motives!
