A new study has suggested that Britons are most concerned about their hotel accommodation when they travel on holiday.
Research carried out by Halifax Travel Insurance found that four out of five complaints received by travel reps related to accommodation, with Britons apparently more willing to put up with other problems.
The complaints related from relatively minor incidents, such as self-catering units being poorly furnished with cooking facilities, to more serious concerns such as cockroach infestations.
And the study also found that Britons are now more forward in making their complaints known, rather than meekly putting up with the problem. However, this has resulted in holiday reps often facing the brunt of unhappy travellers, as holidaymakers vent their frustrations on them.
"Holidays should be an enjoyable experience but taking matters into your own hands and venting the frustration on a holiday rep will only create more stress for all concerned and could potentially land you in trouble with the local authorities," warned Paul Birkhead, Halifax Travel Insurance's underwriting manager.
