The singer spent hours on the internet planning and booking the holiday before surprising her hubby Blake Fielder-Civil with news of their impending travels as she visited him in HM Pentonville prison.
Apparently Amy is confident that her other half won't have to spend too long behind bars, as she has booked the four-week trip over the Christmas and new year period.
A friend of the couple said: "[Amy] knows Blake has had a really miserable time of things of late and wanted to cheer him up by making a spectacularly romantic gesture.
"The pair of them have fantasised about getting away from it all and going unrecognised abroad and Amy felt that India would be the perfect place to do just that."
If the Rehab singer was looking for somewhere where she and her husband can get lost for a while she certainly picked well, as India is the seventh largest and second most populous country in the world.
It is surrounded by the Indian Ocean to the south, the Arabian Sea to the west and the Bay of Bengal to the east.
The country is also a popular starting point for travellers embarking on trips throughout south-east Asia, which can include stops in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and others.
