Singapore is getting ready to host Asia's first Formula 1 Grand Prix street race in September. It will be a race to rival that of the Monaco Grand Prix.
80,000 spectators are expected and £37M will be added to Singapore's economy. 500 million TV viewers will get a glimpse of what Singapore has to offer as a holiday destination.
The last Grand Prix in Singapore was in 1973 and this year the race will be held in the Marina Bay area in the centre of Singapore. The route goes past some of the older landmarks, such as the Fullerton hotel as well as one of the newest attractions, the Flyer. The 165-metre Singapore Flyer is an observation wheel and is 30 metres taller than the London Eye. It will overlook the Grand Prix circuit and on a clear day you can see Malaysia and Indonesia.
You can also watch the race from the rooftop of the Fullerton Hotel but to do this you will need to first book a stay at a suite in the hotel!
Singapore is located on the equator and the weather is hot and humid all year around. Singapore makes a good stopover destination for tourists on their way to Australia.
