Rome has a mythic history that spans more than two thousand years, but its ability to be at the forefront of contemporary culture will be illustrated early next year when the city hosts its globally-renowned Film Festival.
The Independent Film Festival is Rome's foremost cinema event, showcasing more than 40 artists from over 25 countries.
The second edition of the festival takes place in three of Rome's most popular theatres - Cinema Pasquino, Cinema Roma and the Ripa Hotel.
The festival - running from February to March each year - plays host to an essentially young and international cinema, representing the next generation's search for a connection between traditional ways and new language.
Each year the RIFF celebrates six full days and nights of new Italian and international films premiering for the first time in Europe.
In addition to showcasing the cutting-edge of young filmmaking talent, the RIFF offers a series of special events designed to stimulate enthusiasm and create an environment of interchange between established professionals and emerging artists, including retrospectives, roundtable discussions with top international filmmakers, workshops, live music, and VIP cocktail parties.
Above all, the Festival celebrates the triumph of independent cinema's ability to renew itself in both form and content, making for a cultural event that is unmissable for anyone with a passion for innovation.
