About Trondheim
Trondheim is a modern, well planned city. Also known by its original name, Nidaros, Trondheim is the third largest city of Norway. Trondheim is a commercial, industrial and shipping centre, and it offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities. Its celebrated cathedral, built in the 12th and 13th century, originally was a church erected over the tomb of Olaf II (St. Olaf). It later was ravaged by several fires.
Trondheim is noted for its wooden buildings, and many of the oldest line the harbour and river.
